How To Grow Sage from seeds
Pot Size : Sage can be grown in 9×9 Grow bag or container which must have 9 inch depth.
Soil Requirements:
Sagewill grow in any well-drained soil. Use soil mix with combination of Red Soil , Vermicompost and sand at a ratio of (2:1:1) . Also add 2-5% of Neem Powder to the soil mix. Neem Powder will act as fungicide.
Sowing Sage Broad Leaved Seeds :
Sage seeds will take about 3 to 6 weeks to germinate, and then you can transplant seedlings. sprinkle the seeds over the soil and cover them with 1/8 inch of soil. Keep the soil damp but not soaked.
Light and Water requirements:
It requires full sun. In very hot climates it will also grow in partial shade. Sage is a very drought tolerant plant and is harmed by overwatering, rather than too little. It will be more productive if watered occasionally.
Common issues:
Sage plants generally don’t suffer from serious pest infestations. Caterpillars, the larval form of moths and butterflies, are destructive pests that can strip a sage plant quickly. Hand-picking the plump, worm-like pests is a safe and effective treatment. Just remove the caterpillars and step on them or drop them in a bucket of soapy water.. You may use a pesticide like Protector-Bio Insecticide for Pest Control, Guardian-Bio Insecticide or Neem oil.
Harvesting:
Sage takes 80 days to maturity. Sage produces edible leaves year-round, but the best time for harvesting is before the plant flowers.
