How To Grow Rosemary from seeds
Pot Size : Grow rosemary in a pot/grow bag with a diameter of at least 12 inches allows enough space for the roots to grow and expand. Be sure the container has a drainage hole because rosemary grown in containers will rot in soggy, poorly drained soil.
Soil Requirements:
Seeds need moist but well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. Use soil mix with combination of Red Soil , Vermicompost and Cocopeat at a ratio of (2:1:1) . Also add 2-5% of Neem Powder to the soil mix. Neem Powder will act as fungicide.
Sowing Rosemary Seeds :
Sprinkle the seeds in top and cover the sprinkled rosemary seeds with 1-2 cm of potting mix. Don’t cover it too deep. mist daily to keep the surface moist till the seeds germinate in 2-3 weeks.
Light and Water requirements:
Sow the seeds indoors in a cold weather four to six weeks before your average date of last frost. Two weeks after the average date of last frost, transplant them to a full sun location with a foot or more between the plants and 18 to 24 inches between rows.
Common issues:
Rosemary has no serious problems with pests and no notable concerns with diseases.
Harvesting:
Take 4 to 6-inch sprigs from the tips of the branches for kitchen use. Strip the leaves from the stems.
Snip fresh foliage as needed all year; rosemary leaves are most aromatic just before the plant blooms
