How To Grow German Chamomile from seeds
German Chamomile need well-drained, organic soil. Use soil mix with combination of Red Soil , Vermicompost and sand at a ratio of (2:1:1) . Also add 2-5% of Neem Powder to the soil mix. Neem Powder will act as fungicide.
Sowing German Chamomile Seeds :
Chamomile seeds need light to germinate, so sprinkle the seeds and press them firmly onto the soil, but do not cover the seeds with soil. Water them regularly, and they should germinate in seven to fourteen days. Don’t cover the seeds, as chamomile in a pot requires light in order to germinate.
Light and Water requirements:
German Chamomile grow well in either full sun or partial shade. The plants will flower best in full sun.
Regular water will keep the plants in bloom longer, but chamomile plants are very drought tolerant so allow your plants to dry out by moderate watering.
Aphids, thrips, mealybugs, Botrytis blight, powdery mildew may attack the chamomile plant, you may want to use a pesticide like Protector-Bio Insecticide for Pest Control, Guardian-Bio Insecticide or Neem oil.
Chamomile usually produces flowers that can be harvested for herbal use in just 6-8 weeks. Start harvesting chamomile flowers in the morning. Select the flowers that are nearly open.
